Delaware River Report: June 18, 2024

The release from Cannonsville was pulsed with an additional 300 cfs from 10 pm until 6 am this morning. The release is back to 500 cfs this morning. The pulse was done to keep the Mainstem water temp from exceeding 75 degrees at Lordville. So the West Branch will stay cold and the flow will slowly drop this morning and level off this afternoon. Wundergound is calling for some clouds but it’s bright this morning. Nymphing and swinging wets will be your best bets early. The pulse may have knocked some algae loose so fishing underneath may be better mid to lower West. The olives and cahills should hatch in the late afternoon / evening like normal. If they come when the sun is still bright the fish may be sporadic so patience can pay off.

Today will be 91 degrees and partly cloudy. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South. There is a slight chance of a thunderstorm.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville will all peak over 70 degrees again today. It’s time to give these rivers a break.
