Delaware River Report: June 20, 2024

For the third night Cannonsville had an additional 300 cfs pulsed from 10 pm until 6 am this morning. This is to keep the water temp from peaking over 75 degrees at Lordville. The West Branch flow will drop back to 500 cfs by this afternoon. It’s going to be hot again today but it’s our best shot at precipitation in a while. The cloud cover will help and if we do get hit with some storms the rain will certainly help. The ground is really dry so most of the rain should soak right in. The fishing should be similar to yesterday until the storms. Nymphing and swinging wets will be the best bests during the day. We are still seeing light olives, tiny olives, and cahills in the late afternoon / evening. Isonychias have been hatching sporadically in the riffles.

Today will be 91 degrees and partly cloudy. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South. There is a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Wunderground is calling for .2″ of rain.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville will all peak over 70 degrees again today. It’s time to give these rivers a break.
