Yesterday’s afternoon storms slid around us again. We had a bit more rain overnight but the runoff is negligible. The release from Cannonsville is 701 cfs. They are saying that release will remain in effect until further notice. They said that yesterday morning about the 800 cfs release, then dropped us back to 500 before raising it to 701 cfs. So click on the Stilesville gauge below for the latest information. Nymphing and swinging wets early have been good bets. In the evening we’re seeing the tiny olives, light olives, cahills, and sulphurs. Isonychias have been around and are always worth blind casting in the riffles. If Wunderground is accurate we should have better cloud cover today than we’ve seen in quite a while. That could push some bugs on the West despite the heat.
Today will be 86 degrees and partly cloudy with potential thunderstorms in the afternoon. Precipitation should be .12″. Wind will be 10 – 20 mph from the South.
The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville all started near or over 70 degrees again today. It’s time to give these rivers a break.
