We had a few showers yesterday but any significant rain slid around us. Some spots saw heavier but brief storms and the rain mostly soaked into the ground. The rivers are starting off about the same as yesterday morning and today’s storms look like they will amount to nothing. We’re still seeing Sulphurs, Cahills, vitreus, blue wing olives, Isonychias, Dark Blue Sedge, and the dark Brachycentrus caddis. The March Browns, Gray Fox, and Green Drakes are pretty much over but have a pattern or two just in case. Nymphing and swinging wets have been the best bets early.
Today will be 72 degrees with clouds and sun in the morning. We should see more clouds and a possible shower this afternoon. Total rainfall during the day should only be .08″. Wind will be 10 – 15 mph from the West.
The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville all hit close to 70 degrees yesterday. It’s time to give these rivers a break until they cool off again.
