Delaware River Report: June 7, 2026

The release from Cannonsville is 500 cfs. We had a few afternoon rain showers but not enough to bump the river flows in a meaningful amount. Green Drakes are moving up the system along with sulphurs and Cahills. There are still some March Browns and Gray Fox in the colder river sections. On these bright sunny days a lot of the dry fly action has been in the evening. Blind casting the bigger bugs in the riffles could pay off earlier. Nymphing has been the best bet midday.

Although today will be cooler the bright sun will still push the water temps at the lower flows we have now. Some of the water temps on some river sections are too hot to fish for trout. Some people (including some guides) will say that the Mainstem trout are used to warm temperatures and fishing to them in the high 60’s to 70’s is fine. We have never seen a study proving that and it’s really about greed and shows a total disregard for the resource. Please stick to fishing the colder water sections.

The Mainstem, the East Branch in Hancock, and the Beaverkill at Cooks Falls all peaked at or over 70 degrees again yesterday. It’s time to give these river sections a break until we cool back down.

Today will be 73 degrees with clouds and sun. Wind will be 10 – 20 mph from the South.
