Delaware River Report: May 16, 2024

The West Branch flow has leveled out around 450 cfs at Stilesville. The East Branch, Beaverkill, and Mainstem flows are dropping back after the rain. They should level out this afternoon. Everything looks good and the rivers are at what could be considered normal conditions. Today will be much warmer with sunshine in the morning. That could get the caddis active in the riffles a little earlier in the day. The mayfly hatches may push a little later in the day. If the wind drops in the evening it looks like good spinner weather. We’re still seeing Hendricksons on the West Branch and more March Browns, Gray Fox and Sulphurs on the Main and lower East. The lower water levels combined with the sun and warmer air temps should increase the water temps pushing the hatches a bit. Especially on the lower West. It’s a jumble of bugs out there so bring all your flies.

Today will be 72 degrees with sunshine in the morning and increasing clouds i the afternoon. Wind will be 10 – 15 from the North.
