Delaware River Report: September 21, 2024

Today will be a couple of degrees cooler than yesterday but otherwise it looks exactly the same. The West Branch has that Fall color we get when the reservoir starts to turn but the bugs and fish don’t care. There is less fog on the lower West than normal but it could still pay off to throw streamers before the sun hits the water. Nymphing or blind casting Isonychias or cahills should be good bets during the day. The hatches should happen mid to late afternoon with mostly olives and hebes mixed with a few Isos and cahills.

Today will be 77 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds. Wind will be light and variable.

What’s Hatching:
Dark Blue Wing Olive – #16 – 18 – Baetis spp.
Slate Drake – #12 – 14 – Isonychia bicolor
