Delaware River Report: September 21, 2025

The release from Cannonsville is 1,095 cfs. Since the release has the “tint” to it the higher the release the more off color the West Branch looks. Wading is getting tough on the West Branch. There a couple spots it can work but there are better wade opportunities on the Upper East branch and Mainstem. Again it would be much better for both rivers if DEP split the release between the West Branch and East Branch but that never seems to be of interest to them. Small olives and hebes are still making up most of the hatch. There are some Isonychias, Cahills, and flying ants around. The bigger bugs come in to play in the late afternoon / early evening.

Today will be 71 degrees with sun and clouds mixed. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South.

Sadly Ryan Geiges, a friend and former DRC guide, recently lost his battle with cancer. He will be missed by many – both off and on the water. There is a GoFundMe for Ryan’s family if you’d like to support them in this difficult time.
