Delaware River Report / Conditions June 27, 2019

The release from Cannonsville has been cut back to 896 cfs.  That should open up more wade spots in some areas while still keeping the West Branch cold.  We watched a few thunderstorms come through yesterday afternoon but we didn’t get a drop on the lower West.  We could see and hear them but they slid North of us while one or two slid South of us.  The hatching was decent yesterday – better in the colder water areas.  We had bright sun for most of the afternoon so finding shaded banks was definitely one of the keys.  Today we will have sunshine, an air temp of 81, and wind 5 – 10 from the North.  It’s time to check the water temps before you fish an area.  The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls peaked at 68 degrees yesterday.  The East Branch at Fishs Eddy and the Mainstem at Lordville both peaked in the mid 60’s.  They are starting off warmer than yesterday and will peak much higher with the bright sunshine and lower flows.
