We’re hearing we may get an additional 300 cfs release from Cannonsville Reservoir this afternoon. The additional cold water should help keep the river cool over the next few days. We’ll update as soon as we see the additional water coming down. It’s going to be hot out there today. The air temp will be in the low 90’s with sun and light winds from the South. Look for shade and bring plenty of water. Fish with your thermometer. The lower EB, Beaverkill, and Mainstem will heat up today. The West Branch and Upper East Branch should be fine. Check the temperature on any freestones before you fish.
Sulphurs, cahills, and caddis made up the bulk of what we saw yesterday. There were sulphurs hatching mid day but the majority of them came in the evening. Swinging wet flies or nymphing were the best bets during the day. There was still a bit of color in the West Branch so people were throwing streamers and catching fish too. The river cleared up nicely by mid day and is in good shape this morning.

Sulphur – #16 -18 – E. dorothea
Light Cahill – #14 – 16 – S. ithaca & canadense
