Delaware River Report: May 1, 2026

The river flows are dropping as the runoff subsides. The release from Cannonsville is 902 cfs with 218 cfs spilling over the top. Hale Eddy is 1,400 cfs so there are some spots to wade but the best wading will be on the Upper East Branch, the Beaverkill, and the Willowemoc. There were a lot of fish netted yesterday. We’ve settled in to the normal Spring program of nymphing in the morning and dry fly fishing in the afternoon. The weather looks good today with clouds and maybe some rain showers. Wind will be less than yesterday. Hendricksons, blue quills, olives, little black caddis, apple caddis, and dark Brachycentrus are all out there depending on what river section you’re fishing. A few March Browns are showing up on some sections too.

Today will be 57 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds becoming cloudier in the afternoon. there is a chance of some afternoon showers. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.
