Delaware River Report / Conditions April 30, 2011

Light at the end of the tunnel! We have been steadily dropping over the last 24 hours, and the river(s) are clearing nicely. Some warmer weather today should see water temps come up where we would like them to be, getting this season started properly!

River Report / Conditions April 29, 2011

The rain subsided yesterday, and the West Branch crested near 12,000 CFS. That is a little bit high, needlss to say. Most of the discoloration has left, and we anticipate it starting to fish again once we drop a bit more throughout the day. However, The river is still unsafe this morning, especially for wading.  If the predicted  rain misses us we should see the rivers begin to drop to safe levels overnight.

Delaware River Report/Conditions 4/28/2011

Very heavy rain fell early this morning, with off and on showers predicted for the rest of the day.  Click on the links below for the latest flows and temps.  We expect the rivers to continue  to rise through out the morning.  Some of the feeder creeks are dumping muddy water into the system coloring up the rivers.  The river is unsafe this morning.  If the predicted  rain misses us we should see the rivers begin to drop to safe levels overnight.

More heavy rain last night, bringing the rivers up and adding a lot of color.  Looking at the graph, the West Branch has peaked and has begun to fall.  Hopefully any additional storms will miss us and we will drop back to fishable levels over the next couple of days. That being said, guide Steve Shen caught a nice brown yesterday on a white “secret” streamer:

River Report / Conditions April 26, 2011

We had some serious thunderstorms overnight (pink lightning – seriously), which dumped quite a bit of water over the West Branch, bringing us up dramatically. We are already seeing the river drop, and it will hopefully clear throughout the day today. The East Branch and Main Stem also rose, but appear to have avoided the brunt of the water. The warmer water temps are very welcome, however, and we should see both fish and insect activity pick up, even with the higher water.

Maybe spring will arrive sometime soon! Temperatures are warmer, but we are expecting yet more rain over the next few days. The rivers are back up a bit, but the increasing weather should help bring more bugs to the top, and hopefully a few risers as well!

Rain. Pure and simple. Started around 9 last night, and it hasn’t let up. The graphs show the rivers are already starting to come up, so we’ll see what happens. The temperatures will be substantially warmer today, so there should be some bugs out and about!

It was a bit…. “windy” yesterday. Only 40 MPH gusts. But hey – Wiley and Steve still managed to boat fish! Streamer day, needless to say, but the bugs are still hopping!

Delaware River Report / Conditions 4/20/2011

The rain last night brought the rivers up slightly, but the West Branch is reasonably clear.  A few more showers in the forecast today, but no significant amounts are expected.  We have warmer air temps predicted this week, which will hopefully bring the water temps up and stimulate some hatching activity. Today looks like a great baetis day!

Mother nature just can’t seem to decide what to do today. We have predictions of Thunderstorms, high winds, and sunshine. Go figure! The influx of rain is keeping both the river and reservoir high, which should help us in the long run.
