Delaware River Report: April 16, 2024

Yesterday turned out to be a beautiful day and today is shaping up the same. Most people are starting off throwing streamers in the morning and finding some rising fish in the afternoon. Watching slower edges and big pools that are normally too slow has paid off. The water temps are in good shape so we’re seeing a mix of blue quills, hendricksons, and blue wing olives. The bugs get spread out in high water so find areas that funnel the water into a tighter space. The rivers are in great shape for floating but still too high to wade. If we don’t get any additional rain the Willowemoc and Beaverkill should offer some wade opportunities in a couple of days. The tailwaters and Mainstem will take longer due to the higher releases and spill.

Today will be 65 degrees with sunshine. Wind will be 10 – 15 mph from the North.
