The release from Cannonsville is 500 cfs. It looks like the heat will break Sunday in to Monday. In the meantime stick to the cold water sections. They are pulsing form Cannonsville to keep the water temperature in check on the Mainstem. It’s not enough water to make the Main fishable for trout. The release hit 900 cfs for a couple of hours overnight and is back to 500 cfs this morning. The West Branch and Upper East Branch temps are fine. Sulphurs, Cahills, Isonychias, olives, and some caddis are all out on the water.
The Beaverkill, lower East Branch, and Mainstem will all be over 70 degrees today. It’s time to give these rivers a break until they cool back down.
Today will be 91 degrees and partly cloudy early. There is a chance of scattered afternoon thunderstorms so keep an eye on the radar. Wind will be 5 – 10 from the West.
