Delaware River Report: July 17, 2023

The aqueduct work has been pushed off again. It is now scheduled for Fall of 2024.

The West Branch at Hale Eddy is just under 1,000 cfs and dropping. Home Pool is clear and looking good this morning. The West Branch above Oquaga Creek is clear and flowing at 500 cfs. We’re at good levels for wading and floating. The daytime sulphurs and olives are on the upper river. Now that the flow has dropped and the river is clear we should see some sulphurs and Isonychias on the lower West as the sun drops. The East Branch / Beaverkill got hit with additional rain and the flows are way up this morning. The flow at Downsville is 135 cfs. The feeder streams are still pumping a lot of water over there and the flow at Harvard is 908 cfs.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville will peak over 70 degrees today. It’s time to give these sections a break and fish the colder water.

Today will be 84 degrees with a bit of smoke and haze. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South.
