Delaware River Report: July 19, 2023

The aqueduct work has been pushed off again. It is now scheduled for Fall of 2024.

The rivers are looking good this morning with decent flows for floating and wading. The West is clear and looking good. The lower East and Main still had color yesterday afternoon but should clear enough to fish smallmouth for the weekend if we don’t get additional rain. The best bet for daytime dry fly is in Deposit with small sulphurs and olives. It should pick up on the lower West as the sun drops in the evening. Some people are doing well with streamers early an late in the day.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville will peak over 70 degrees today. It’s time to give these sections a break and fish the colder water.

Today will be 80 degrees with clouds in the morning and clearing in the afternoon. We may have some smoke and haze. Wind will be light and variable.
