Delaware River Report: July 24, 2023

The aqueduct work has been pushed off again. It is now scheduled for Fall of 2024.

The nights have been relatively cool and we should have decent cloud cover with some rain today. Keep an eye on the radar to track the thunderstorms. Most slide around us but it’s worth tracking. Otherwise it’s still July so small sulphurs and olives in the coldest water re your best bet for daytime hatching. Nymphing is still better on the lower West with dry fly shots coming as the sun drops into dark.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville will peak over 70 degrees today. It’s time to give these sections a break and fish the colder water.

Today will be 78 degrees with scattered thunderstorms that may bring some wind gusts. Wundergroundis showing .29″ of rain. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South.
