Delaware River Report: July 5, 2026

The release from Cannonsville is 500 cfs. We had some thunderstorms and rain showers push through yesterday evening and overnight but the rivers came through just fine. The flow on Oquaga Creek actually went down so the West Branch is clear and in decent shape for wading and floating. The Eastern drainage flows bumped a little but not enough to notice. We may see a little rain today with more coming overnight. It’s been really dry up to yesterday so this is all welcome. Sulphurs, Cahills, Isonychias, olives, and some caddis are all out on the water. Blind casting Cahills and Isonychias can be effective when there isn’t a hatch. Head to the colder water for the best hatching.

The Beaverkill, lower East Branch, and Mainstem are starting way over 70 degrees today. It’s time to give these rivers a break until they cool back down.

Today will be 77 degrees with clouds in the morning and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. Rain totals around .13″. Wind will be light and variable.

What’s Hatching:
Dark Blue Wing Olive – #16 – 18 – Baetis vagans
Sulphur – 16 – 18 – Ephemerella dorothea
Tan Caddis – #16 – 20 – Hydrosyche sp
Light Cahill – #14 – Epeorus vitreus, Ephemerella invaria, Stenacron spp.
Slate Drake – #12-2xl – 12 – Isonychia bicolor
