We have a light dusting of snow on the ground this morning but that should melt shortly.  We should end up partly cloudy at 42 degrees by late afternoon.  Wind will be 10 – 15 from the North.  They had yesterday’s report nailed pretty well.  We has some scattered rain and wind most of the afternoon and then some really good wind in the evening.  Every once in a while the sun would pop out and it was actually nice out on the water.  Fewer bugs on the water yesterday or maybe we just didn’t see them because they blew away so fast.

Yesterday we had a cool breeze but overall it was nice to be out in the sunshine.  Today will be cooler with the air temp hitting the mid 40’s.  We’ll have rain in the morning with the possibility of some thunderstorms in the afternoon.  The rain total doesn’t look like much at .25″ or less.  The wind will be 15 to 25 mph from the North so if you’re up here pick your spot accordingly.  We get the sun back tomorrow but with cooler temps.

Art claims he landed this just West of Philly this week. Not so sure we’re buying that!

Yesterday was pleasant but windy up here.  We had enough warmth and sunshine to bump the water temps up a couple degrees so we’re starting off a little better this morning.  Most of the flows went up a negligible amount from runoff but should start to drop back today.  We should see a mix of sun and clouds today peaking around 53 degrees.  Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.  That sounds good compared to the wind we’ve been dealing with lately.  It looks like we have a relatively cool week coming up with a bit of rain towards the weekend.

It’s a cold morning here with some snow still showing on the norther slopes.  The runoff is cold so it will take a while for the water temps to climb.  We should hit 58 degrees today with some sunshine.  That should help.  Wind will be 10 – 20 mph from the South.  Pepacton Reservoir is still spilling but the EB flow is dropping slowly along with the rest of the system

Not the view we were hoping for this morning

We didn’t get much rain yesterday.  It fell as snow.  It took a long time for it to stick on on the grass in the lower elevations but we have a few inches on the ground this morning.  The hills may have quite a bit more.  Today will be chilly and windy hitting 45 degrees with wind 10 – 15 mph from the North.  Tomorrow we warm up to 58 degrees.  No more snow in this weeks forecast!  The rivers are still high and cold but slowly dropping.  We may see a bump in flows as the snow melts today and tomorrow.

Yesterday looked beautiful outside when you looked out the window.  When you went outside it was actually pretty cold.  We just looked out the window.  We’ll see some rain today with more coming overnight.  Pepacton Reservoir is still spilling and Cannonsville is at 99% capacity.  It won’t take much for it to spill too.  We may see up to 2″ of rain and snow tonight s click on the gauges for the latest flows.  It looks like we warm up a bit beginning Sunday so hopefully today is the last time we see a “Winter Warning” on Wunderground until the late Fall.

Not what we were hoping to see this morning

We woke up to a little snow on the ground.  There is still a lot of runoff working it’s way through the system.  Pepacton Reservoir is still spilling.  The air temp will hit 42 degrees today and the wind will be from the North 10 – 20mph.  Wunderground is predicting 2″ of rain and snow tomorrow into Saturday.  That will keep the flows up and the water temps low for a bit.  The high water, cloud cover, and low nighttime temps have kept the water temps from climbing too high during the day.

Pepacton Reservoir is spilling this morning bringing the flow to 2,600 cfs at Harvard.  Cannonsville Reservoir is high but not spilling.  The flows in the rest of the system are dropping slowly.  Between the cold nights and the high flows it will take a while for the river temps to reach their daily high.  Most are starting off around 42 degrees this morning.  If the bugs come it will be in the warmest part of the day.  Most of our dry fly fish have been landed on caddis patterns this year.

Delaware River Report / Conditions April 14, 2020

We didn’t get all day winds yesterday but we definitely got the rain.  All the river flows are way up this morning but are beginning to drop back.  The Beaverkill hit 10,000 cfs  yesterday but has already fallen to just over 5,000 cfs at Cooks Falls.  It’ll take a few days for that to run through the system.  The West Branch is in better shape but still high at 2,500 cfs.  It sounds like a lot of streams on the East Coast will be high for the next few days.  Wunderground isn’t showing any additional rain the forecast until Sunday. Check the gauge links below for the latest flows.

The river flows are up slightly so far from last night’s rain.  Not bad so far.  Wundergound shows another 1/2″ falling over the next 1o hours.  We’re coming off a warm night so water temps are in much better shape than yesterday morning.  The wind does not sound awesome this morning at 20 – 30 from the South with higher gusts possible.  But it is going to be 64 degrees which is kind of nice.  The wind forecast looks much more manageable over the next few days.

The air temp is 26 degrees this morning but should climb in to the high 50’s by late afternoon.  We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds with winds from the South at 10 – 15 mph.  That should be 10 mph less than we’ve been dealing with most of the week.  The water temps will take a while to warm back up but the sunshine should help.  Tonight will be warm but we have some rain moving in.  We should see 1/4″ overnight and another 3/4″ tomorrow.  Mid April all of a sudden feels like March.  If you’re on the Delaware and want to find rising fish watch the slower pools and edges in the afternoon.  Otherwise streamers and nymphs will probably be your best bet.  That probably applies to your local rivers if you have high flows too.

Yesterday seemed like an all day snow shower.  We didn’t have any snow accumulation in the lower elevations but it looks like the mountains may have a bit on the ground.  The water temps are starting off a few degrees lower than yesterday but they should bounce back up today.  We’re looking at 46 degrees with a mix of clouds and sun.  The wind stays with us though at 10 – 20 mph from the North.  The wind has been tough for the last few days so it’s mostly been streamer and nymph fishing.
