The wind was unkind yesterday but the bugs hatched and there was opportunity. It’s still a mix of hendricksons, olives, and blue quills. Today looks similar and should fish similarly. The wind will be slightly less at 10 – 15. The cloud cover is a bonus. Look for bends or banks that can get you out of the wind. The fish aren’t super picky on pattern yet with the high water but they are picky on presentation. The East, West, and Main are in great shape for floating but still too high to wade. The Beaverkill dropped below 900 cfs at Cooks Falls so there are a lot of wade opportunities there and on the Willowemoc. People are nymphing and throwing streamers in the morning. The hatches have been mid afternoon.
Today will be 48 degrees with cloud cover. Wind will be 10 – 15 mph from the North.
Our friend Diane is raising money for one of our favorite events Paint the Delaware Pink — which we host here at the DRC each September. Please consider donating and supporting an amazing program that uses fly fishing as a recovery tool for breast cancer.
