Delaware River Report: July 26, 2023

The aqueduct work has been pushed off again. It is now scheduled for Fall of 2024.

The West Branch flow at Hale Eddy has dropped back to 834 cfs this morning and is looking good out front. There is a tint to the water but it is definitely clear enough to fish. Nymphing will be the best option on the lower West. People are moving fish on streamers early and late in the day. The best shot at daytime dry fly fishing will be in the coldest river sections near the dams. Small sulphurs and olives.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville will peak over 70 degrees today. It’s time to give these sections a break and fish the colder water.

Today will be much warmer hitting 86 degrees with sunshine and just a few clouds. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South.
