River Reports
Delaware River Report: June 24, 2022
The rivers stayed off color for most of yesterday but the rain subsided by mid-day. It was a good day to try streamers and look for rising fish as the water started clearing. There is still some higher water out there today, especially on the Main Stem but that will continue to drop. Home Pool has cleared and looks great. Today we’ll be warm and sunny, with some slight winds. Look for rising fish in the shade during the day and be ready for the evening hatches. We’re still seeing sulphurs, olives and cahills on the water. Sometimes all at once!

9:30 am update: The feeder streams are adding color to the West Branch and we’re seeing mud in Home Pool.
The rain held off until after dark. We have some light rain falling this morning but so far everything looks fine. It looks like the releases were bumped up a bit and the flow at Stilesville is 522 cfs as of 5:30 am. The West Branch looks clear out front. We may see an additional half inch of rain over the course of the day that may affect the feeder streams. If we really only get 1/2″ it will soak right into the ground. If anything drastic happens to the river we’ll do a mid day update. Otherwise we’re looking at 65 degrees and wind 5 – 10 mph from the South. Olives, sulphurs, and cahills will be the main hatches. If the feeders do add color to the water it should make for decent streamer fishing.

Delaware River Report: June 22, 2022
Yesterday’s rain missed us and the rivers are starting out today at pretty much the same flows and temps as yesterday. We had decent sulphur and cahills in the late afternoon and evening. There are still caddis around but sulphur and cahill emergers seemed to be what the fish were looking for. If you see decent hatching and no fish on top try swinging your emerger patterns. We have a bit of sun this morning but we should see good cloud cover roll in with the possibility of some afternoon showers. We should only see .02″ of rain with bit more coming overnight. Wind will be 10 – 15 mph from the South.

We should see some rain this morning totaling under 1/4″. That shouldn’t do much to the river flows but the rain and clouds could definitely push some bugs. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South and the air temp will hit 75 degrees. Sounds like a good day to be on the water. With that weather report have your olives handy. There is also a chance it will push the sulphur and cahill hatches a little earlier in the afternoon. And always Isonychias and caddis this time of year. Yesterday was a bit spotty on timing but most people saw some kind of sulphur hatch. Some of the eats are very subtle so keep a close eye on likely lies and be patient.

Delaware River Report: June 20, 2022
The wind is only going to be 5 – 10 mph out of the North today. That’s going to be a welcome change after the last two days. Yesterday was tough during the day but the wind dropped in the evening and people did find fish on sulphurs and cahills. Isonychias are definitely around and blind casting high floating patterns have put some fish in the net. Nymphing had worked before the hatches and don’t overlook swinging wets. We still have quite a few caddis around. It will be a cool 73 degrees today with a mix of sun and clouds.

Wunderground nailed the cooler temps and wind. The river temps dropped quite a bit with the cold overnight temps. We’ll hit 66 degrees today with sun so they should climb back up by late afternoon. Nymphing or swinging wets will still be your best bet early. Some people worked smaller streamers. Sulphurs and cahills should still hatch. find a spot out of the wind in the evening. Wind will be 15 – 25 mph out of the North. Tonight the air temp will drop into the mid 40’s again.

It’s much cooler this morning and the air temp will only climb to 57 degrees. odd fro mid June but better than 95 and sunny. We should see good cloud cover and wind 10 – 20 mph from the North. So not bad except for the wind. Nymphing or swinging wet swill be a good bet early. If the sulphurs, cahills, and olives hatch try to find a spot protected by the wind. Blind casting Isonychias in the riffles could also pay off.

The remaining thunderstorms missed us and the rivers look in good shape this morning. There is a tint in the lower West but we have a couple of feet of visibility so no problem. the flows are dropping slowly as the runoff subsides. Every river is in good shape for wading and floating. We should see our normal sulphur hatches with cahills and olives mixed in. There are Isonychias around so definitely keep those in your box. Wundergound is calling for 79 degrees and partly cloudy. Wind will be 10 – 20 mph from the North.

We were hit with thunderstorms around 4 am and it’s still raining a bit. The river flows are up and still climbing. The West Branch is off color out front. Click on the gauge links below for the latest flow information. This could be a rare streamer day for us. The flow at Stilesville hasn’t budged so that section of river should be clear an is 500 cfs. This may be a good day to fish streamers but there is always a shot at dries this time of year. Either way at least it’s not 85 degrees and sunny. The rain should stop this morning and we’ll be cooler at 73 degrees. Wind will be 10 – 15 mph from the North.
The Mainstem at Lordville, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Beaverkill at Cooks Falls all peaked close to 70 degrees yesterday. It’s time to give these sections a break until the temps drop again.

Yesterday was another clear, sunny day. People found some fish early but nymphing and wets were the best bet until the sun started to drop and the sulphurs hatched. Cahills, Isonychias, and olives have also been on the water. Caddis are active in the mornings and evenings. They are on the water sporadically so it’s definitely worth throwing a tan #18 caddis at sporadic fish. We should see some clouds in the afternoon today but any rain should hold off until after dark. Total rainfall should be negligible at .15″. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.
The Mainstem at Lordville, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Beaverkill at Cooks Falls all peaked at 68 yesterday afternoon and are starting off warmer than yesterday morning. It’s time to give these sections a break until the temps drop again.

Yesterday ended up being clear with sunshine in the afternoon. The bugs did come and we found fish rising. Today looks similar with the air temp hitting 80 degrees and sunshine. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North. Sulphurs have been hatching mid afternoon into dark with some cahills, Isonychias, and olives in the mix. Caddis have been around – especially in low light. Nymphing and swinging wets have both been productive earlier in the day.
The sun and hot temp may push the water temps up on certain stretches today. If you’re on lower river sections please check the water temp before fishing this afternoon.

We had a little rain in the late afternoon into dark but essentially there was no change to the river flows. The West Branch at Hale Eddy is up 45 cfs and is perfectly clear out front. The other river flows didn’t bump at all. Yesterday’s cloud cover helped push some bugs early and made the fish comfortable. Some spots had lighter hatches than what we’ve seen but the bugs and fish were there. Sulphurs are still making up the bulk of the mayflies on the water with some cahills, Isonychias, and olives in the mix. Caddis have been moving around in the mornings and evenings. We should hit 77 degrees today with cloud cover in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. Wind 5 – 10 mph from the North.
